I just ordered the 89004 kit which is a header back universal kit for squarebody truck and suv. I’m going to try and adapt it to my manifolds. If that doesn’t work I’ll order headers but would rather stick with manifolds.

Summit sells the Dynomax 89004 kit for $173

Walker / Dynomax makes a manifold kit but it’s more $$$.

You need to supply your own mufflers so I added these stainless 409 magnaflow knockoffs. $44 ea

I’ll add pics once I get it installed in a few weeks.

Here’s my ‘86 k5 305 w stock 4bbl quadrajet, 700R4. Still rocking the stock exhaust which is super thin in spots and the y pipe is beat up by the front driveshaft. Which is why I’m switching to dual exhaust. I’m not expecting a power increase, but would be nice. The catalytic converter was already removed before I purchased, and there are no emissions requirements in my area

A good amount of cutting and welding to make the 89004 header kit work with stock manifolds. Reused stock manifold down pipe and adapted exhaust kit to weld up to it. I was going to do headers but decided to leave the manifolds. The bends in the Dynomax kit are good to clearance around the transfer case and looks even coming out the rear passenger and driver side. The ol 305 has a little more getup and go, mostly noticeable in the higher revs. It used to shift smooth and soft at wide open throttle. Now it has a firmer shift. Maybe +5-10 hp. I have some videos of the exhaust sound and a walk around of the k5 on my YouTube channel.
