Hey yall,
New member from northeast Alabama. Got me an old 1978 Suburban. It's the 3/4 ton AWD model. I don't know anything about it history. I know the motor is a 350 SBC crate motor, because I had to have the motor replaced. I also know it has a holley sniper EFI kit, and new holley gas tank, because I put those on. It was lifter when I bought it. I did put new tires on it, and the front bumper. It's got a little body rust, but the frame is solid.
Everything works pretty good. It was an AC truck and I took all that off. The factory radio is still in it and still works.
All the lights work, the horn works, the windows all roll up and down and the doors all lock, it's all manual stuff. It's got the roll down back glass in the tailgate, and that works.
It's got nice interior, and is badged as a Silverado, but who knows if that's accurate?
Planning on tinkering with it and passing it on to my son when I gone. He's six now, and he loves Ol Rusty. Calls it our monster truck.
I will definitely be asking questions.

Welcome from Central NC. That Sub looks like a solid ride to work on and to pass on to your heir. I see those OZ GY tires too, I've put many miles on those as we could get them for free just off FT Bragg; they were listed as "blem". Thanks for sharing the pics and the story.

Welcome OlRusty, from Washington, OK. Great looking 'Burb you have there. I am sure it is, and was a true Silverado from the factory. Jump on here anytime you have questions. There are many folks on here that will help you in getting answers to your questions. They may not be the correct answers. But, they are answers to something. :happy175:

It's the 3/4 ton AWD model.

Technically not "AWD" (as in "All Wheel Drive") but 4WD (as in "4 wheel drive").

Around here (that is, GM Full Size Truck engineering) All Wheel Drive implies the four wheels are engaged all the time, even on smooth dry concrete, like a Denali or a Cyclone. There is a viscous coupling in the Tcase so you don't bind anything up.

4WD means that you engage and disengage via driver input based on road or off road conditions.

FWIW -
