Just wondering if anyone has switched from the 73-83 style E brake cable set up to the later 84-89 cable style? I have a 78 and the cable drags the bottom of my 4L80 pan. The later style looks much simpler on LMC trucks website and both cables run down the drivers side of the frame instead of the early style rods all over the place. It's not really something I have to do, just wondering if anyone has done it and if you can use the factory early E brake pedal with the later parts. It also looks like there are brackets welded to the frame that will have to come from a donor truck.

I have not done it but if you could find the donor plates on the frame, I would think it'd be pretty simple. Or depending on budget/how fancy you wanna get, you could pick up one of the E-stopp or Wilwood electric setups

Thanks, I'll check into those, I didn't know there were aftermarket choices.

I got this on the way, it may work to replace the "eyelet system". I'll do a follow up whether or not it works out.

Yeah. please let us know how it goes. I need to do something similar on mine. I have an 86 2wd body on a 80 4wd frame and my parking brake is all jacked up. I've tried to add eyelets but it still wouldn't trust it on a hill.

I will update soon I hope, I just painted the frame and it's on saw horses so I got to get a few things back together before I can try it out. It will be a while before the cab gets back on so I plan on just connecting the factory front cable to the pedal mechanism to mock it up and see how it looks. But the rear end is a long way before it's ready but maybe a mock up will work for now. I'll update soon. Thanks.
