Haven't posted in a while but got this idea the other day. I've had my grandpa's c30 for a while, it's been a complete ground up resto, I want something completely different and cool. It's a complete junkyard build, my grandpa built the truck out of junkyard parts that he had on hand, 78' c35 crew cab frame, 1984 K10 single cab, and then threw a wedge bed on the back So throwing logic out the window here and keeping with the junkyard theme, I know I could drop in a Cummins or DT360 relatively easily but not really what I'm looking for. I recently acquired a 1981 International with the DT466 with a 5 speed trans, the cab is completely rusted out but the frame and drivetrain is solid. So I know with a body lift and some serious firewall cutting I could set the dt466 down in the c35 frame, once again not using logic here (I know there's easier swaps) and cutting and welding is no problem. My biggest question is whether or not the 78' frame would hold up to the weight of a 1500lbs engine, they make heavy duty coil springs that would hold the weight but I'm wondering about the frame or suspension components. I've already undercoated the frame and completely rebuilt the suspension and added a 3/4 drop from western chassis, and hate to not be able to use it. The 78' frame is pretty beefy so I'm thinking it would hold up.

Now the other option would be swap the K10 cab onto the international frame but I honestly don't have a need for a truck of that size for a Sunday driver. And with the weight it'd still only run 55 mph on the highway.

I guess I'm just trying to bounce some ideas off smarter guys and see which way to go. I'm going with the 466 that's for sure, the only question is will it be a engine swap or a cab swap. It should be noted that where I live vehicles are titled completely by the vin on the cab.

Here's some pics for inspiration.

I'd be more concerned about getting it to fit. As for frame strength, it should be fine but that really would depend on what you plan to do with the truck.

I've seen a couple forums where a 466 has been swapped into a f350. Definitely some serious modifications required to get it to fit. As far as use it'll just be a fun Sunday driver to take down to the local car show.

I'm into it. I got a 466 around for a possible pull truck. We'll see lol
