Pulling the 04 2wd 4L60E out of my donor truck for my K5 LS project.

Will I lose fluid from the tailshaft if I drain the pan and cooling lines first? I dont have a plug or spare yoke…

Can I allow the LS to tilt back or will it hit the firewall?

Doing this outdoors so hoping for smooth sailing. Any insight will be appreciated, thank you.

If you drop and drain the pan, there will be very little fluid (if any) that will come out of the extension housing. Same thing with the cooler lines.

In regards to the firewall, put a rolling hydraulic jack with a piece of wood under the trans with the wheels turned forward on the jack. Lift up on the engine and pull. Adjust trans jack and/or engine lift as needed.

If your on gravel, get a sheet of plywood for the trans jack.
