Holley street warrior 600cfm for sbc 355?

Any opinions on these Holley 0-80457s carbs I have a mild built sbc 355 with a
Magnum cam
Sealed power flat tops
Polished crank
Comp cams heavy duty roller rockers, lifters, valve springs ect
Proformer RPM an intake, rebuilt 882 heads. It’s going to be my daily driver and looking for my best option for a carb, I found a good deal on the Holley and wondering if that’s a good parring for this motor/my needs.
It’s a vacuum secondary, electric choke 600cfm

For a daily driver the electric chokes on that line of carbs suck. Quick Fuels use the same and i think the Brawler line does too.
They eliminated the vacuum chamber and mechanism that cracks the choke plate open when it fires and just notched the choke plate instead. They got rid of the vent too so the coil heats up too fast. Under a minute and the choke plate is fully open. Adjust it to where it stays on long enough and it winds up being too much. No real in between.

Look into the "classic" line (1850) or get one with a manual choke in my opinion

The 80457 is a decent carb. I bought a refurbished one (which was essentially new) many years ago from Holley's eBay store. The engine was a 350 with Ramjet cam and Vortec heads, so essentially a Ramjet 350 with a carb. Manifold was a Holley Street Warrior.

Anyway, I fired it up, set idle mixture and idle speed, and was done. No stumbles or bogs. I did end up going from the stock 6.5 power valve to an 8.5 because the engine made around 18" manifold vacuum. The only thing I didn't like was the fuel inlet being on the driver's side. Holley also sells a 80458 carb with dual inlets on the passenger side. All specs are the same. I suggest getting the SA version (aluminum) instead of the S version.

As an alternative, this QuickFuel Slayer series carb is more tunable and uses Holley jets, power valves, and air bleeds.

That engine of mine went into an 82 SWB C10.

Thank you for the input, I did notice the drivers side inlet which isn’t the biggest deal but is definitely inconvenient for making things look neat and clean

I ended up buying the carb anyway due to the steal of a price I got it for, so will see how it preforms, worst case I can sell it for at least what I paid and can go with one of the other options mentioned
(At least it looks good on there lol)

That one had the old style choke that works like they're supposed to. Sometime in the last couple years they have switched to the cheap ones.

Still has the gold zinc linkage so it's old stock and probably has the good choke too.

Well that’s good news! Will have to see how it works out, doesn’t need to be a crazy hot rod anyway just want a good runner with a little bit of pep to it when wanted

I'm not a fan of electric chokes at all. I think the best-ever were the stock ones from the 60s, where they were controlled by intake manifold crossover heat. I'm really amazed that electric chokes don't burn out, because the canisters sure do get hot! I'd go with manual chokes, but all the latest cables suck. Nothing like good ole factory cables.

The castings might be. But they're assembled in Bowling Green
