Anybody out there know if the backing plates on a full float and semi float 14 bolt 8 lug rears are the same

Nope I don’t think they are. I believe one cover is a little deeper than the other. (Full floating being the deeper of the two)
The ring gears are a different size.
Semi is 9.5
FF is 10.5

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I believe this is the way it goes.

Backing plates would have to match brake option as well as rearend,so even though the backing plate wouldn't technically be the same it may bolt up and work. I'm assuming you are swapping rearends and want to use your old brake components. I'd look up rear backing plate gaskets for each,if they use the same gaskets,I'd give it a try.
