I hate posting pics of unfinished business but couldn't help myself so here it is... I meticulously replaced my Sniper with the Pro-Flo XT, at the time of the build this particular unit was not available so I slapped the Sniper on, I'm adamant about tuning and initial break in on the Dyno so that's what went down... The Flo was offered at a huge discount during Edelbrock's summer slam sale so I pulled the trigger... Not to mention Holley takes massive beating around here and CK5 for being overseas unreliable junk... The Pro-Flo is Impressive, a true MPFI with 8 injectors versus 4 (Sniper) and I love that nostalgic 502 "Ram Jet" look that was available from Chevy Performance for years, hoping it gets me to the 700hp mark ! Anyway here are a few before and after's, still a few things left to do most importantly set my distributor gear depth, I ran out of cam lube nor do I have any white lithium grease on the shelf ugh ! I'm hoping SweetK30 inducts me into the "Bro-Flo" club after all this hard work and cabbage spent lol ! More info to follow...

Here is a little gasket info, long story short use your head manufacturers gaskets if they offer them, in my case AFR heads AFR gaskets ! The pics will show you how poorly Fel-Pro and Edelbrock gaskets line up, also those AFR gaskets are the highest quality I've personally ever seen... I opted for the thick versions, mostly personal preference but in many cases necessary if to much has been shaved of the deck or heads... Another note I advise using a distributor with an adjustable collar especially with the thicker gaskets if your OCD meets or exceeds mine, gotta get that distributor gear depth dead nuts...

Looking for suggestions here I'm having over thinking brain block... First pic is a "preformed" bypass hose from Summit that worked perfectly, second is the angle of the Bro-Flo and this same hose will not work, nor will the nice soft silicon hose I bought, pay no attention to that 45 fitting it was experimental... Ya'll got any thoughts ?

Factory SBC Vortec trucks/suv (96-2000) have the same style bypass. One of the preformed hoses from them may work.

The one I bought was preformed and was used on all the older big blocks, the angle screws me it kinks the hose to much... That said the fancy stainless NPT heater hose adapters are extremely long, maybe if I could find some cheap brass very short NPT to barb fitting it would solve the kinking issue idk, I even tried to loop the hose it didn't work and looked like sheit to boot...

I'm 100% sure they are not shaped the same as what you have already. Good luck lol

Thanks Matt, I just snagged 3 different shapes off FleaBay, none mentioned Vortec but one of the shapes is bound to work...

You don't have a local parts place in case they dont work? Usually they'll let you pick through what they have.

What I did, when I was changing the water pump and bypass hoses on my '99 OBS Burb with the 5.7,(350 Vortec) was go to the local parts store. There are two bypass hoses on the Vortecs and I got one correct the first time, but the other one was incorrect. I took the old one to the store and I had the dimensions of what I needed. As it happened, the warehouse aisle I was standing in front of, I could see the small hoses on the wall in the back of the store. I could see one that looked right, so I had the counter guy bring it up for me to look at. Turned out to be the one to do the job! IIRC the Gates # is 20338, I think the application is actually a Phord, but it worked on my Chevy.

On the local parts store subject no not really, most all of our locally owned mom & pop shop parts slash auto repair businesses were owned by the parents of dudes and gals I went to school with and have been sold or handed down the the eldest brother, then sold to Advanced Auto, Auto Zone, O’Reilly Auto etc… Bastards lowball an offer, close down the auto shop and if the building is new/nice enough throw shelving in the auto shop and stock it with imported parts and off to the races… Sheit just had another O’Reilly set up camp in a Walgreens that went belly up, enough of my rant! Anyway if none of these odd ball hoses line up to my straight barb fittings my plumbing background has conjured up a plan to 90 over from the manifold so to come off the water pump straight up and utilize the original bend big block hose…

If you rotate that 45 to the 3 o'clock position( viewed from above) use a 90 at the manifold, turned to 1 o'clock position a simple U shaped bypass would work. Or a 90 at the manifold at 3 o'clock and a straight barb at the pump a 90 degree bypass would work.

I did not use that as I could not get it to fit either, used brass plugs.
