High temps

Howdy,

Wanted to get some input from everyone - would a failing brake proportioning valve cause the truck to run hotter? The temperature isn't consistent. It never gets into the danger zone.

I also want to remove the trailer brake booster that is connected to master cylinder. The temp on my last drive was not as high as the picture below.

We recently put a 160 thermostat in, made sure it has plenty of coolant, and ensured the water pump is doing water pump things.

The timing is where it should be as well.

Really, factory gauges are indicators. Unless brakes are dragging causing the motor to work harder can't see a connection.

If you want to know the actual temperature need to install a mechanical gauge. Also depends on where the sender is installed. If near the stat will be about 15-20 degrees cooler than if in the head.

Temperature reading in the pictures wouldn't alarm me at all.
