Awesome thread! After being a giant paperweight for the past 7 months, I finally finished the wiring harness swap and was able to head up north with my 3 sons. First one is crawling down to Haigler Creek and the 2nd two are up near Bear Canyon Lake in AZ.

Heck yeah Jacob! I know the feeling. My K15 was a giant paperweight for the last month as I have been working on the fuel lines. Got er running like a top today though!
I haven't been quite that far past Woods Canyon Lake, but my two teenage sons and I were camping in our hammocks out at the West Clear Creek Trailhead near the junction of Hwy 260 and Hwy 87 this past weekend.
Its a great time to have our square bodies up and running in the Ponderosa Pine Forests of AZ!
By the way, what mirrors are on that real nice Suburban you have there?

Those pics are making me miss my M1008 real bad. Looks like you're enjoying your build...and yes...I'm jealous!

This is as close to dirt as I've had my burb so far. But there's dirt under that there grass.

Got to use my new winch to drag my powerwagon around the corner to a new resting place.

Had my oldest kid steer it and do most of the work. He'll end up with the dodge when I die so he has a vested interest.

Playing in the dunes with my old Chevy. I took the drivetrain and suspension out of this and used it in the Chevy I have now. I loved the truck but the bottom of the cab was pretty rough and the frame was showing it's age. I still have it, but it's on stock suspension and still needs an engine.

And here's a more current pic. My friend's son's Toyota, my Chevy, and my son's Chevy on the right. We're currently changing the frame on my son's Chevy due to a combination of Chevy's junk steel, the midwest, and him getting a little overzealous coming off the top of a hill in the dunes.

Is that a hidden winch in the bumper of your red Chevy? If so can you tell us what mount and what winch?

No winch, I think you're just seeing the flag mount.

These guys are solid. They are local to me in Portland and I have the front shackle mounts and will probably be getting the behind the bumper front mount later this year.

I have been looking at Engineered Vintage very, very hard. They seem to make an excellent product.

My issue with a Behind the Bumper mount is that I will have to get down on my hands and knees each time I need to engage/disengage and each time I need to connect/disconnect the remote wire. Those things have to happen every time I use the winch. If the truck just happens to be in bumper deep mud, that is going to be a problem. If I happen to need the winch while I am in deep water, that's going to be a problem.

This is their hidden mount:

Engineered Vintage also makes a fantastic winch bumper but by the time I get it set up like I want it I will be out almost $3000. Before I add the winch to it. I will also have to add shackle mounts.

RLC Welding makes this wonderful bumper but I almost feel like it is too modern for 1987. All of my mods have to be "Period Correct".

Could hide a receiver behind bumper/ license plate and put winch in when needed. Maybe keep it in the bed till you need it? Or would that defeat the purpose for what you want?
