Greetings. I finally had a reason to swap the 700 into my 455 olds powered 81 GMC. I built the 350c not long after I did the 455 swap, I finally killed it. I built the 700 a few years ago in anticipation of this day.

The trans supposedly came from a 91 caprice 9C1 cop car. It definitely is a high performance trans, it has the oil baffle on the planetary gearset. I built it with the typical upgrades.

My issue: the TV cable is too long. I have the cable adjustment maxed out, the cable is loose. When wide open, I still have /2-3/4 inch of slop.

Im wondering, we’re the 91 cars TBI? And if so, are the tv cables different?? This one does appear longer than what I recall seeing.

For those in readerland who have done 700 steps, what tv cable did you use?

I used a throttle cable bracket from a g body car equipped with an overdrive trans. I transferred the throttle arm from a CCC Q-Jet onto my earlier Q-Jet carb. Basically, I have duplicated the factory tv cable system.

I'd think you could just push the plastic end that clips on the carbureator where you need it abd put a cable trunion ahead of the plastic piece so it can't slide back up,you can also put a compression spring between the plastic end piece and the cable trunion for more cable tension.

I've seen fishing line weights crimped onto the cable before, that seemed to work well.

That G-body likely used a 2004r, so that might be the difference.

I know the early Crossfire/700r4 cars used a tv cable that had a different length on the end. I thought all the others interchanged though.
