What would you pay for this truck?

I watch Puddin's Fab Shop on Youtube when I can. and he had a short series of videos on doing exactly that - had a damaged longbed and he cut/welded/reinforced the frame and then cut down the longbed sides to match what the measurements of a factory shortbed to make everything look right. Did...

1991 Suburban 3/4 ton: TBI to Holley Sniper conversion - stupid, or worth it?

I looked at the megasquirt - it seems like a cool idea but unless I was seeing things completely wrong - they send you a bare circuit board and you have to source/assemble the whole thing from zeo yourself - the odds of me having a functional ANYTHING after that would be pretty slim to none.

1991 Suburban 3/4 ton: TBI to Holley Sniper conversion - stupid, or worth it?

I have considered this myself because the factory TBI isn't bad when it works, but because its all based on propritary OBD1 systems troubleshooting it is really, really difficult unless you know someone who has a unicorn-horn level rarity of a functioning OBD1 data reader. For me the biggest...

    85 suburban c20 PTINA

Unfortunately having it hidden behind facebook's portal means none of the rest of us can see it....

How does this sort of thing happen????

Don't think that is the case because I had it back from the intake job for almost a month before this problem came up - and no evidence of loss on any fluids in that month of time. I didn't see any evidence that the starter mounting holes were broken away from the block, but there most...

    Loose timing chain replacement

Do these engines not have some sort of timing chain tensioner? I have the same engine and I would have just assumed there was a chain tensioner in there somewhere....

How does this sort of thing happen????

Now thats important to know - since mine did not have that. What does the strap attach to?

How does this sort of thing happen????

Didn't see any cracks in the flex plate when I had the inspection cover off - just teeth that looked like that hadn't been to the dentist in 35 years. Damage seemed recent, the bad/chipped edges were shiny. Did discover a hand-painted date on the torque converter from 2004, so I assume that is...

How does this sort of thing happen????

I took my 1989 2500 Suburban in to get stuff done, got it back and its been running great. Steering wheel doesn't feel like its going to come off like a Loony Toons skit anymore, no check engine light staring me in the face, no Spyhunter level smokescreen out the back at speed over 55 MPH...

New here , clutch slave master cylinder help.

I could never get vacuum bleeding to work. For me it always pulls air around the threads of the bleeder rather than drawing fluid out. On my last British car clutch I had to drip-bleed the clutch to get any pedal - no matter how much we did "have person 1 pump and person 2 open/close the...

Clamping brake lines to axle tubes?

On the British cars, this is done with a metal band that has a "U" pressed into it for the brake line to sit in, and then the band is wrapped around the axle and doubled back (think something like a zip-tie but made of steel). The stainless steel bands that are used with the header insulation...

    Blower Motor not working

No power on the purple wire means something upstream from there is dead. If all fuses are in fact good, I'd start looking at the blower switch assembly. If the old motor doesn't run with 12V applied, then there is a chance too much current got pulled and did some thermal damage.

    A weird minor problem....

I don't know exactly what catagory to put this in, but it is certainly engine related: Engine is a 1989 454, TBI and stock manifolds (no headers). Pulling the dipstick to check the oil is straightforward, but putting it back in has become very very difficult. Difficult to the point I am...

    5.7 Vortec and TBI

I throw this out as a "needs further research" option, but I have been told (without being able to confirm) that the intake manifolds on the 1987-1991 big block trucks that came with TBI are actually a standard spreadbore manifold with a TBI adaptor/riser (with water passage) set between the...

    Need help with part number/name 1987 V3500 7.4L N TBI

On my 1989 TBI 7.4L that is a coolant tempt switch that is wired over to a relay on the driver side inner fender. The relay controls the factory electric secondary fan mounted in front of the radiator. Unfortunately mine is also somewhat broken (it still works but you have to just jury-rig the...
