What locker shall I go for?

That's the route I would go if I were you. Just wanted to add this... Be realistic about it, adding any type of locker isn't going to make your truck perform like a 4x4. IMO they help a little, but not a lot.

    Dana 44 front axle issues

Just saw this. I've never used any type of manual locker. I actually would've avoided a Trutrac too if I hadn't rode in my son's truck, I was pleasantly surprised how well it performed, and how you didn't know it was there until you needed a locker. And I chose it because I wanted to minimize...

    Dana 44 front axle issues

Thank you, that was thought out and helpful. Now I kinda regret not grabbing that D60, but on the next one I will :Big Laugh: FWIW, this is the first D44 front axle I've grenaded. I've worn one out but never had this happen. I'll never know, but I imagine this would not have happened if I was...

BFG KO3 vs Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T

Ground clearance, foot print, and whether or not someone can drive all make a bigger difference than tires. I'd put the BFGs low in a large list of tires on snow, and pathetic on ice and packed snow. They're even terrible in the rain. I've had 2 different sets of BFG ATs over the years, one was...

    Dana 44 front axle issues

I've read a couple places that because the Dana 44 is (a lot) lighter, it handles better. I've also read that unless you're going bigger than a 35" tire, the 44 is a great axle. But like I said, I have zero experience driving on a Dana 60 so everything I'm saying is just what I've read. Part of...

    Show your daily driver

I know I'm setting myself up here cuz it's a Ford. I all but swore I'd never get another diesel cuz they're so expensive to maintain, but I absolutely HATE towing with a gasser. Just picked this up. 120k miles and I know the guy I got it from. Spent most of it's life in Texas and never was...

    Dana 44 front axle issues

I'm running Warn Premium hubs. In that gigantic POS big hub 44 setup they were nothing but trouble, but I've never had an issue with them in a 10b. I almost did the axle upgrade to the chromoly when this all happened but I was already spending enough, and damn are those expensive. Thankfully I...

BFG KO3 vs Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T

I hate the BFGs in the snow. When they're brand new they aren't completely pathetic, but get a few miles on them and they suck. I can't speak to the MT BB AT, but I have the MT and they're amazing off road and not stupid loud on the highway. If I had to choose between the 2, even though I...

    Dana 44 front axle issues

For anyone interested, I absolutely LOVE the TruTrac!! Took the truck to the dunes last Sunday. I seriously didn't expect I'd hardly even notice much difference from it in the front axle, the truck already seemed to eat sand really well. But this hooks so much better it actually changes how I...

I have this other Square body

This was my old Chevy, I've had this truck for a long time. I originally bought it to plow my work parking lot, got it pretty cheap about 13 years ago. Long story short, I wanted to restore it but the cab was pretty rough. The previous owner put new rockers and cab corners in it, but didn't do a...

    First post with Questions

I'd pull the dash pad and check where everything mounts. Take it for a drive with the dash pad removed and see if the squeak is gone. If it is gone, figure out how to tighten the point of contact where the pad is squeaking, or use some sort of adhesive gasket or strip caulk at the point that...

What have you done to your square lately??

What you mentioned about the dyno numbers is worthy of it's own thread. I'm curious how much HP is actually lost in the drivetrain on a 3/4 ton 4x4 with lockers and 33"+ tires. I know they say roughly 15-20% if you have a RWD with normal tires. But I was pretty surprised when I saw a YouTube...

What new tools have you got lately?

I know enough about carbs to be dangerous, but I'm definitely more used to Carter style carbs than Holley cuz that's what I always used in the past. Been running this current Holley for about 6 years now. Going to see if I can learn something.

    Dana 44 front axle issues

One more haha... I'd LOVE to go the dunes out there. Not sure if it was Oregon or Washington, but wasn't the Goonies dune scene at the beginning of the movie filmed out there? Here's another video that shows Silver Lake better. Never met the guys that put this together, but pretty sure this is...
