Loss of one of our members, ole mtnmankev
He wasnt one to mention much when it came to his health, only living with him, and staying in contact kept me abrest. Hurt when he went into hospice, hurt more then. To be honest, I will always be impressed how long he kept himself going with how many things cropped up before the end. -

Took me some time to post this. But in the very early hours, we lost mtnmankev. A brilliant and goofy individual I had known for a solid 20 years. His health had been in decline for over a year, multiple issues, combined finally caught him. It finally caught up to the stubborn ole billy goat... -
Thermal Compound HEI Module
I actually had my ICM fail due to the previous owner never having a clue that the distributor was a heat sink for the dang thing. Cant hurt to use dielectric on the connectors, but I thanks to another keep thermal paste on hand to deal specifically with the heat transfer end so the module wont...- CrazyArk

Break in procedure
When the break in was done on my engine, we used Castrol GTX 10-30w, ZDDP Plus. A 165 degree thermostat. Also took time filling the cooling system. Add in the two core aluminum radiator and it's capacity with a slow refill to let the air slowly leak out, the end result was good on break in...- CrazyArk

Are all 350 Chevys mostly the same?
For the oddness mix. 1986 was the "special" year. Last year of the true carb atop the 350, but the first with a one piece rear main. It was also the last year to retain the angled manifold bolt down holes, where in 87, IIRC they went to the straight down with the introduction of the... sheer...- CrazyArk

In my case I did a beyond crazy drive from Northern AZ, to Northwestern PA, and finishing my leg into southwestern NY today. Saw quite a few squares on my trip. Decided I absolutely will never drive across Kansas again, the state felt like it would never end. Was half convinced I saw a member... -

The 400 means you got the crank to make a proper old school 383 at least. Building up an engine is a must, the 700r4 is excellent for MPG, but I have heard it can be finicky under extreme loads, the 4L80 will undoubtedly need controllers to make it shift correctly, a THM400 will have some power...- CrazyArk

I want a rear sliding window!
Even I can say, if you do run across the rare wrecking yard, and you find a square with the window and it has the chrome trim in it? ...That is the reusable one, GRAB IT! It takes some patience, but you can get that strip out and makes it so you can work the old window free, and with far more... -
Which carb to buy?
...Everyone has their preferred carb, and it can vary heavily from person to person. Edelbrock has by far the easiest to maintain. The fact I, a complete newbie to rebuilding carbs could strip mine down, clean it, and reassemble it says a lot. Quadrajets, depending on how fancy you wanna go...- CrazyArk
