that black thing a few inches past the cable end is the clip. reattach it....quickly.

TV cable is very important to the transmission functioning and not burning up. that's why I asked about it back in post 22,658 of this thread.

Yes. A couple of people have mentioned the TV cable. That is what prompted me to check on it while it was stumbling today. I have also researched adjusting the TV cable. I guess I will start adjusting it now.

just move the throttle all the way to WOT at the tbi. if the cable is tight like a guitar string, you should be fine. it may click a time or too if it was too tight before as it properly adjusts

Should I take it for a drive with cable re-attached? Isn't there another clip for this or does it just go on this easily?

that's all it does to attach. move the throttle to WOT with your hand and see if the cable appears tight

@gmbellew Glen, thanks for your quick response and talking me off the ledge. The truck is running great again and no hard shift in to 2nd gear anymore. @bucket Andy thanks for your knowledge here as well. I should have looked at the the TV cable after your and Glens mention the first times when I got it back from the shop.

I saw that, after I posted my response and read the other replies regarding that. That's why I edited my post to be a "."

In Rusty's case I think the connector split and he had to recreate it. In your case it appears it was as simple as sliding the connector back on and snapping in to place. Glad it was that easy for you and hopefully there isn't any damage to the trans.

To summarize, lol:
-Reattached the TV cable. It's likely been off since I picked it up from the shop. It was connected after TBI was rebuilt before heading to the shop. Once I reconnected and reset the cable the hard shift went away and the truck drives great again. I know, I know but this time for real, for real.
-Unlocked the passenger power lock. It gets stuck occasionally and I figured out over time that if anyone tries to open the door from the outside it will stay locked. With help from the wife and kids we e eventually would get it loose but did not know what combo of things get the solenoid to release. Right before I was about to head to bed I decided to search up "door lock" and read a couple of posts in threads that I hadn't read before and it all makes sense now. The passenger button has to be depressed before trying to unlock it with a key. I noticed as soon as I pushed the button in there was a slight resistence and a "clik". Then the door lock opened right up when using the key. It must be a theft prevention back up thing in 80's GM design for the power locks.
- It felt really good to get both of those things knocked out today.

I won't hold that one Ford against you. One of my good friends is a 1962 Galaxie guy. He started with his grandfather's one owner '62. I don't hold the Fords against him either, but we sure do tease each other!

He has several that he brought back from the grave. His current project is Hi-Po chassis. You know, a small production run available to the public, so the stock racers could have a little better unit to beat up on the track. I will admit, I did text him your picture, to make sure I got the year correct. That gave us a chance to chat.

Had a 63 Galaxie 4 dr sedan for a while with the 352 FE motor. Ran great but dumped it for another project. 63 and 63.5 were all the one year models like the 64 is. Pretty much nothing from either side would fit it. Another part of the main reason I parted with mine. They're definitely a beautifully designed vehicle and you can spot them in a crowd fairly quickly. Unlike a lot of the newer stuff floating around out there by a vast majority of the auto manufacturers now.

Outside of Mustangs I'm certainly not a Ford guy but there are a handful that I really like the styling on. The '63 Galaxie XL is definitely one of them, but I'm a weirdo that likes the box top over the 1/2 year fastback. The '66/67 Fairlane and the '65/66 Galaxies are also some of my favorites

I've had a couple Mustangs too but man are they small. I've got old & fat & don't fit the ponies anymore. I can fit the Galaxie as it has the SOB seat (slide over baby) so the lil wifey can ride on my hip.
