I just saw a 85 chevy 4x4 that looked odd, it looked to be about 10 inches longer than my longbed. Did they make square body long horns? I asked the guy but he said it wasn't, in fact he said it was a "normal c10".

A quick search said GM stopped making the 8 1/2 ft and 9ft beds in '72. Ford started making them in '73.

It could have been a special ordered fleet truck.

I've heard that Square Bodies continued production well into the 90's for fleet and military applications.

Could it have been a conversion of some sort where a conversion company got a hold of a few and produced these longer long beds?

square bodies did continue into the 90s... up to 91 for Suburbans, Blazers, crewcabs, and select 1 tons... military applications stopped in 87. 83-87 actually.

That would be awesome for hauling rolls of carpet or some 16 foot 2x4s. It would be really cool if he built a custom camper shell.
