Awesome CUCV find! (plenty of pictures)

I know I'm the one that made the CUCV thread but I'm so stoked on this find, it deserves its own. The truck that I am interested in reads 3x,*** on the odometer. I called the dude already and he said it runs great. He also said he gets them in periodically which is good to know. He's got some more trailers coming in this week. The truck I'm interested is mint as far as I can tell with one exception. The interior is so clean I almost don't believe he got it that way. The other M1008 is not up to par with the one I want but still pretty nice.

The one I like will be in this post. I'll put my other pictures in a separate post.

These are the photos I took of the other stuff on the property. The dude said there are also 4 on the road that he uses for work.

Is this dude local to you?

How much is he asking for the trucks?

Were all the CUCV's LWB?

I think the phrase I am looking for is "Do Want".

It's about a 45 minute drive for me which is local in my eyes. He told me $4,000 for one and $4,200 for the other. I'm assuming $4,200 for the one I want (badly). I can't really afford it yet but I'll figure something out. I'm hoping it just doesn't sell or the guy really does get them in periodically and now I know I always have a place to go to finally get my M1008 I've always wanted. They are all LWB, yes.

Wouldn't mind having the k5. What's so great about these old military trucks anyways? I guess I'm not in the know, but I can only assume, heavier duty goodies is the reason?

I want one because I want another Square Body that isn't completely rotten. I'd REALLY love to get myself a 2WD Square Body. Granted, I don't have the budget or the space to work on a second Square right now, but, it's nice to know where to look.

Are they all 1 ton trucks?

I want one with a 6.2 as well, but, I want mine to be a gasser. I don't know enough about diesels to even have one built and I wouldn't drive it enough for fuel mileage to be a concern.

Really? I'd always been told that up until the Duramax chevy diesels were pretty sorry. Have I been misinformed?

Mis informed I say, but everyone has an opinion on it. Everyone trashes the 6.2 but in reality its awesome for a daily driver. I for one would love to have one in my truck right now.

To the best of my knowledge, there are no gassers. The M1008's and K5's in the Military Units all have 6.2 Diesels, non turbo. The M1008's are good cuz they got Dana 60 Front end, and 14 full float rear. They are geared at 4.56 and have Detroit Lockers. Turbo 400 trans but still the weaker NP208 though. The K5's just get the 10 bolt front and rear ends with a G80 Gov Bomb locking rear differential.
I have heard the same about the 6.2 Detroit Diesals. Lots of trashing on them, but really they didn't hold up well for many people and purposes. Even the few people that like them and have good things to say about them, as I understood them to say, yes they are good on mpg, not to be hot rodded and worked hard, and if you don't drive them like you stole them, they do make good daily drivers with great mpg. The hp and torque ratings are not all the impressive either. I'd have one though for the fuel mpg.
I'd love to have an M1008, but the first thing that would have to go is the NP208 and convert to NP205. I can't understand why they'd put all the good strong axles in them, but then put a piss poor Tcase. Maybe cuz the 6.2 really doesn't have enough power to hurt the NP208 and you do get a much better 4Low range out of the NP208.
