    Gonna build a trailer...

Yep. It's gonna run behind my 89 crew cab I've got on the forum here. Aaron

    Gonna build a trailer...

Just up behind the cab. I'd have like to have taken the cab off, and had more frame, but I was out of time. I'll just have to buy some more c channel, but your idea is exactly what I've got in mind. Aaron

    Gonna build a trailer...

Yes, will have pictures here before too long. That 60/40 ratio seems reasonable, particualrly since I'd like to be able to hang stuff off the back a ways. I'm probably gooing to end up with a flat deck around 10 or 12 feet long, and I'm likely to haul lumber on it that's 16' or longer...

    Gonna build a trailer...

All: I chopped off the back end of a 1980 squarebody dually parts truck, gonna make a nice trailer out of it. I'm envisioning the axle location, and how much trailer would be in front of and behind, the axle. You guys got any advice there? Is there a rule of thumb for this, so I get the ideal...

    Transmission Upgrade?

Thanks for the info, Eric. Mine was a stock TBI, but we went back to a 4 barrel carb on it. I think my tires are 33's, I'll have to check for sure. How do you check the rear end gearing? Does it say, on the differential? I'm kinda a newb at this stuff. Regardless, I'll be getting down to 2000 or...

    Transmission Upgrade?

Hi all: I've just recently got my 89 V3500 back on the road. It's got the TH 400 transmission in it. 454 motor. I can't remember what the rear end gearing is (I didn't mess with it). When I discussed it with the machinist who rebuilt my engine, he didn't think I'd get more than 1 or 2 mpg...

    1980 Squarebody Dually: Pictures Added

Here are some pictures of what I've got. It's got a good set of front fenders, as you can see. The 350 is in my shop, it ran when I pulled it out a year or so ago. Transmission is still on the truck. Rust on the hood is surface, no holes in it. Doors have rust on the bottoms, and you can see the...

Last call. If nobody wants this truck as-is, mid-April I'm going to cut the frame apart and make a trailer out of the back end. Aaron

    Hanging I-Beam from ceiling joists

Cool setup. I just did this in my shop, with a beam that around 8 1/2 feet long. I had to put in an extra wood beam to do it, will post a pic when I think about it, I'd be interested in seeing others' setups like this, too. Aaron

If you're seriously interested, let me know, and I could probably hang on to it a bit longer, if I had a definite timeframe. Aaron

    1980 Squarebody Dually: Pictures Added

hey everyone, I've got a 1980 squarebody dually. If somebody wants it, it's yours, make me an offer. Here's the skinny: When I got it, it was running, and I drove it to my place about a year and a half ago or so. The guy I got it from had rear-ended somebody though, so the hood and front end...

    Dumbo mirrors

If I could add a question, as I was intending to post this anyway... How do you guys keep your dumbo mirrors from perpetually creeping back? My old ones on my 89 V3500 did that. They were rusty, I got a new black set from LMC, and these do the same thing. Aaron

Anyone have a LS swapped 3+3?

Thanks for the opinion. I'll pass that on to my machinist fried who rebuilt the engine. Is there another thread here where people have real-world comparison like this? If not, I should start one.

Anyone have a LS swapped 3+3?

Brief hijack, @ Old77: How much of that 13 mpg do you attribute to the 4 speed trans, versus having TBI? Just curious. On my recent rebuild of my 80 3+3 (not a dually) we got rid of the TBI, installed a 4bbl quadrajet, and kept the 3 speed auto trans, since the machinist who rebuilt my engine...

    Cab mount bolt fell out

I nearly had to do that cut-a-hole-in-the-floor routine, to get my old mounts out. I think on one of them, I drilled a small hoel from up top, shot a bunch of pbblaster in there, and then heated it from the bottom. My seat belt bolts were even worse. Aaron

    Cab mount bolt fell out

So even weirder: I get under the truck last night...and I didn't even lose the lower part of the bushing. The grease I used when I put the two halves together must have created a vacuum in there. I'm going to be checking those bolts fairly frequently, I think. I live on a pretty bad road...

    Cab mount bolt fell out

Yeah, I thought of the odds of that happening, myself. I got hit by lightning once, in my teenage years, maybe I have a weird effect on odds, now. And yes, Scott, I'll definitely be checking all the other bolts too. Maybe I did forget that one. I was a total newbie when I started this project...

    Cab mount bolt fell out

All: This forum seemed like the best place for this question... Yesterday, one of my daughters discovered one of my cab mounting bolts laying in the driveway, along with the washer. When I remounted my cab (truck is here...

Source for those black fender flares?

Yeah, I know about the rust thing, my originals had the chrome on them, and that's what they did. Mostly, I was thinking that it would solve my dirt problem, and that it would cover up my bad bodywork around the fender wells. I don't think I could fit a set of front mudflaps in, without...

Source for those black fender flares?

All: Anyone got a source for those black fender flares that wold fit my 89 V3500? Just need the front ones. I'm striking out so far. Something like in picture is what I'm looking for. Can see here: https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/89-v3500-rehab.33188/page-2#post-876687 the problem I'm...

    Replacing headlights

Thanks for the advice. I'll look back at that and see if I can get to those torx heads. I think LMC's grille must be a tighter fit than the OEM ones. Aaron
